Sprint Triathlon Seeks Volunteers!

The Falmouth Track Club has been in touch with Rich Havens of TimeOut Productions, race director of the Falmouth Sprint Triathlon, about supplying a group of volunteers for the event. This triathlon will be held on Sunday, July 19 starting at Surf Drive Beach at 7:00 am. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt and food. We'd like to have a good FTC presence at the event. We will also have a table for the club with club information the evening before the race and possibly also the day of the event. This is a chance for us to help out with a fabulous local event and really promote the club. Please contact FTC president Glen Rogers at ffrdglen@netscape.net if you are interested in volunteering.

Welcome

Our club is composed of individuals and families who participate in and support running, road racing, and walking. We are based in the beach community of Falmouth, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Most of our active members live in Falmouth and surrounding towns of the Upper Cape such as Bourne, Mashpee and Sandwich, but our membership list includes individuals from other towns of Cape Cod and the Islands, many parts of Massachusetts, and states as far away as Florida and California. Our personal goals include athletic achievement, personal satisfaction, and enjoyment. Our club seeks to encourage youth as well as adults to run and walk for competition, recreation, fitness and pleasure. FTC running gear is available for purchase at the Coffee Obsession on Queens Byway, Falmouth. Our club offers a program of race entry free reimbursement to its active members.

Here is an article about the FTC published by the Bourne Courier in early 2008: Falmouth Track Club article.

FTC Activities

Our three road races have been in existence since the 1970s. They are the Seagull Six (actually 5.74 miles) held in early April, the Main Street Mile held in September, and the Cape Cod Marathon and Relay held in late October. We also offer the Coffee-O (founded in 1997), a weekly self-timed 5-mile fun run each Friday evening at 5:30 out of Town Hall Square in Falmouth. The club offers to its members a weekly coached track workout throughout the year and a summer running program for children and teens. There is a series of fun runs held at members' homes in the winter.

The Falmouth Track Club also offers a full-service race timing service featuring a unique and widely recognized starter's cannon. Click on the link at the top of this page for more info.

Every year the FTC is able to make substantial donations to local charities. We also help out with a number of other community volunteer projects such as a clean-up of a well-traveled local street in the spring. In 2007 we even helped build a playground in town.
